Tennis Masters is an arcade tennis game from Madpuffers. You pick from a roster of quirky characters, each with distinct abilities and power-ups that change every rally. It supports solo play against the AI and local two-player matches on the same keyboard, so it works well for competitive sessions with a friend.

The thing that makes it different from most sports games is the chaos built into each match. Power-ups drop mid-rally, characters transform during play, and the pace never lets up from first serve to match point. Whether you grind through solo tournaments or trade trash talk with a friend beside you, the game rewards quick reflexes and smart positioning over brute force.

A match in the tennis masters game moves fast enough that most rallies end within ten seconds, which is exactly the point. Serves happen when you press your hit button at the toss, returns reward clean timing over mashing, and a smash on a high ball usually closes the point. Sets are short, so a best-of-three against a friend fits into the time a single match takes in most sports titles.

The roster is where Tennis Masters gets its personality. Every character plays differently, with abilities and power-ups that change how a rally develops, and some of them transform mid-match in ways that alter their reach and swing speed. You will lose a point or two to a power-up you did not see drop, then start watching the court edges for them, and that shift in attention is where most players get decent at this game.

Local two-player is the mode it is built around. One player takes AD, W, V, and B; the other uses the arrow keys with L and K, so both halves of the keyboard stay clear. With no online matchmaking to hide behind, matches turn on shot placement. Hitting to the same corner repeatedly stops working after two or three rallies, and mixing flat returns with smashes is what keeps an opponent scrambling.

For solo players, the AI ladder is a warm-up rather than the main event. It teaches serve timing and court positioning well, though experienced players will outgrow the default difficulty in an afternoon. Treat single-player as practice for two-player sessions, where the game actually lives.

Single player controls:
AD or Left/Right Arrow Keys move your player across the court.
W or Up Arrow jumps to reach high balls.
X or L is a standard hit to return the ball.
Z or K is a smash shot for powerful returns.

Two player controls:
Player 1 uses AD to move, W to jump, V to hit, B to smash.
Player 2 uses Arrow Keys to move, Up Arrow to jump, L to hit, K to smash.

Serve by pressing your hit button when the ball is tossed. Time your swings carefully, since early or late hits send the ball wide. Position yourself near the center after each return to cover both sides of the court.

Stay near the center of the court after every shot. That gives you the best coverage for returns on either side.

In two-player matches, vary your shot placement. Hitting the same spot repeatedly lets your opponent read your game.
Jump shots are risky but rewarding. Use them when the ball sails over your head, not as your main strategy.
